Resources
Below is a list of spaces where I have experienced warmth, curiosity and a sense of being safe enough and collectively held enough to build meaningful connections and to practice not knowing in community.
You may find them nurturing and generative too:
a monthly sliding scale membership community, founded by Prentis Hemphill and Kasha Ho, that offers regular live practices, a library of embodiment practices, and opportunities to build connection and friendship with practice buddies ~ a community space for Transformational Characters, those of us who are committed to the work it takes to heal ourselves, our lineages, and the systems we are a part of.
an online QTIBIPOC creative writing collective ~ a regular, supportive, accessible space held for QTIPOC voices & stories
online and in-person gatherings expertly facilitated to hold space for all we bring ~ playful, accessible sober spaces, services, practices, parties and resources to cultivate communities of care that can support and sustain the collective healing and resilience of qtibpoc world over
Healing Justice London's Breath Circle for Collective Capacity
a weekly gathering space for grounding and centering ~ regular space centering racialised/global majority people but open to all. Light stretching, breathing and meditative practice. It’s a space that scaffolds and staggers levels of participation, so that you can opt in to what supports you and your body to feel safer.
GEN Grief Toolkit by Camille Sapara Barton
a pdf guide for personal and communal use, developed by Camille Sapara Barton and GEN, rooted in the practices of The Resilience Toolkit ~ embodiment tools and rituals to support grief work in community
a place to find the books on your reading list, plus free recordings of their bookshop events ~ a queer-owned and woman led independent community bookshop
Below is a list of resources that I have not personally experienced, but come recommended by friends and peers:
Swan ~ a space created by autistic women, girls and non-binary people for autistic women, girls and non-binary people, where we can be who we are, understand ourselves better, and share our experiences, challenges, interests and joys
Take One Action ~ brings communities together to harness the transformative potential of film and storytelling for collective change
ADHD Babes ~ a support group for Black women and Black non-binary people of African- Caribbean descent with ADHD
Being Mixed Project ~ Scotland-based collective hosting workshops, potluck dinners and social events for people of mixed heritage
Voda ~ self-guided therapy programmes designed by leading LGBTQIA+ psychotherapists
Juniper By The Sea ~ the UK's first East and South East Asian Bookshop
Black Girls Hike ~ challenging the status quo, and encouraging Black women to reconnect with nature, we host nationwide group hikes, outdoor activity days, and training events
If you know of a group or resource that seeks to create nourishing community connection for people who identify as queer / neurodivergent / QTIBIPOC and would like to suggest it for this list, please send me an email.
