Each month, Everyday Writes co-creates dedicated spaces for people to come together with a collective focus!

In-person events, workshops and groups take place in the Century studio in the Merchant's Quarter in Kirkcaldy, Fife (unless otherwise stated). All events are by cash donation on the day - we suggest a donation price for each event, or you can bring along whatever you are able to contribute on the day. Your contribution will help cover supplies and the running costs of hiring the space.  Have a look at what's on below and book your place now!

Here's what's coming up!

Space to Read

Wednesday 23rd November, 1.30pm – 6pm

Drop-In Reading Space at The Wee Retreat, Glasgow

Pop in, have a cuppa, get cosy and spend a while getting lost in all the books you’ve not got round to reading yet! I will be bringing along books that celebrate marginalised experiences, positive climate action, queerness, people of colour, neurdivergence… with plenty of space to have conversations about anything that comes up for you. This is a reading space so books can’t be taken away, but you can stay and read for as long as you’d like. There’ll be journal prompts and paper, too. Introvert-friendly – no expectation to chat!

Drop in, have a read, find some new books to add to your reading list, meet kindred folk, and leave feeling inspired. Please note this is happening at The Wee Retreat in Glasgow's Southside, not the usual Kirkcaldy studio. No need to book, just drop in! Check out their website here for directions.

Space to Sing with Lhamo Grace: a monthly relaxed space to sing songs to inspire and connect, with our earth at heart. Led by musician and somatic therapist Lhamo Grace. No singing experience or musical skill required!

Space to Sing is co-ordinated by Lhamo. Suggested payment from £3 - £15. Please contact Lhamo to book your place:

Next Space to Sing: Saturday 3rd December, 10.30am - 11.45am

Heartstoppers United

This event has been postponed - I need a little help to make it happen! If you'd like to volunteer to help plan or run this event, drop me an email!

Here's what it will be:

Does Heartstopper make your heart sing?

Come along for a joyful hour and a half of celebrating what it means to you, whether that's feeling seen for the first time, a sense of healing through representation, a bittersweet-ness as part of an older generation, a love of the characters, geeking out about the comics or Season 2, or anything else. And if you've not read the comics yet, you can have a browse while you're here.

It'll be a chilled space to meet new people or just quietly soak it in. Introvert-friendly and neurdivergent-friendly.

Tea and cake provided!

Want to volunteer your time to help me organise the event? Drop me an email!

The ethos of the in-person Spaces

Everyday Writes spaces are anti-racist, anti-homophobic, affirming of trans people and people of all genders, value the lived experience of all participants, and aim to be actively inclusive. Please only come along if you share these values.

About the studio space

Events are held at the Century studio at 260 High Street in the Merchant's Quarter in Kirkcaldy, full of independent businesses. It's 5 minutes from Kirkcaldy bus station, and 10 minutes from Kirkcaldy train station. The space itself is calm and beautiful.

It's important to me to acknowledge the accessibility issues of the studio space. Everything is on the ground floor but unfortunately the front door is too narrow to make it accessible by wheelchair. This is something Century hopes to change in the future and we are all exploring what might be possible as custodians of the space. For this reason, Everyday Writes will also hold some events at alternative accessible venues nearby. If you use a wheelchair and would like to come along to local events, or if there is a particular event you are interested in, please contact me by email, I would love to explore ways to make the event accessible to you.

- these spaces are introvert-friendly! No pressure to be chatty, no forced participation, just come as you are on the day
